Students at Brooke Weston are busy rehearsing for two forthcoming performances; the first a festive concert with students from our sister Academies, and the second a showcase featuring the music of Sir Elton John.
Staff and students from Brooke Weston, Corby Business Academy and Kettering Science Academy will join forces this week for a seasonal evening of readings, carols, solos and orchestral pieces at the Salvation Army Citadel in Rockingham Road, Kettering. More than 110 singers and 50 musicians are taking part in the concert, which is the second time that the annual event has taken place.
Tickets for the event, at 19:00 on Thursday 8th December, are free, but are limited to two per student. They can be collected from the Finance Office at Brooke Weston and from the other Academies.
Head of Music Mr Duguid said: ‘The Partnership Carol Concert is all about the students from all three schools coming together to sing and perform en masse. As well as the traditional and favourite carols and readings there will be other pieces that highlight the talents of all the Partnership students. The citadel is a great venue and it should be a really lovely start to the festive season for parents, guests and members of staff.’
The Elton John Showcase takes place on Thursday 15th December and tickets, costing £3 each, are already selling quickly so buy yours soon from the Finance Office to avoid disappointment. The show will include choirs from Years 7, 8 and 9 as well as soloists. It promises to be an impressive evening as it will feature the largest-ever amount of students to take part in one of our musical performances.
