Sixth Formers and Year 9 students studied the same book together in both the English and Spanish versions. The Year 9 endeavour students were reading the English translation of The Prince of Mist by Carlos Ruiz Zafon while the Year 13s have studied its original Spanish format during their A Level course. The students split into three mixed groups to look at different aspects of the novel.
Spanish teacher Mrs Navarro-Marin said: ‘The Year 13 students need to talk about the book for five minutes for their language exam and therefore have been looking at how drama and suspense is created. They have already studied its plot and use of characters in previous lessons.’
English teacher Mrs Brown said: ‘The Year 9s are studying a fantasy unit as part of their course. Their objective is to analyse key extracts, picking out individual words and commenting on their connotations and how they feel about them. The Sixth Formers have been brilliant as expert helpers but they are also learning as well.’
