Students from Brooke Weston are to design a new logo to promote the Corby Walking Festival. The three-day event takes place in May and attracts hundreds of walkers. Festival co-ordinator, Suzanne Preston wants a logo that can be used on the publicity material that reflects the aims and ideals of Corby.
The event is run by the council’s culture and leisure department in conjunction with partner agencies and has taken place over the past three years, attracting about 250 participants each time.
Ms Preston said: ‘Corby Walking Festival celebrates the wealth of both urban and rural walking opportunities in the borough. We deliver a programme that is accessible to all people of all fitness abilities. The event is family orientated and ends with a community fun day. Hopefully it will be quite high profile next year because it will link in with the Olympics and the Diamond Jubilee. The logo needs to encapsulate what Corby is about so we want it to have a local feel and identity.’
The logo competition was launched during recent assemblies to Years 7 to 11. For more details or to submit a logo contact Mr Clarke who is co-ordinating the competition.
