A group of Year 7 boys met author Robert Muchamore, the author of the Cherub and Henderson’s Boys series. Mr Muchamore spoke at King Edward’s School in Birmingham and 13 of our students went along to hear about his writing career and ask questions.
Aaron Beeby really enjoyed the event. He said: ‘Robert Muchamore explained how he started writing the Cherub series. His nephew was bored during the summer holidays, so he took him to buy a book. They couldn’t find one he liked so Robert wrote the Cherub series for his nephew.
‘I have read most of his books. I love them because they are stories that you can’t predict; not like a typical kids’ story. I read one and I thought I knew what would happen at the end but it completely changed. They are really exciting and I read one of the books in about three days because it was so good! I asked Mr Muchamore what his favourite series was, which was The Henderson Boys and his favourite book is The Recruit because it was the first one he had published.’
Librarian Mrs Adams said: ‘We were one of a number of schools invited along and there were hundreds of students at the event. Robert Muchamore writes quite gritty books and the boys loved hearing about his work and queued up to get their books signed afterwards.’
