More than 20 students auditioned for a part in Sweeney Todd, the first full-length play due to be staged in our drama studio. Students from all year groups took part in warm-up exercises before performing a memorised excerpt for teachers Miss Duguid and Ms Heimfeld who are co-ordinating the production.
The play should last around an hour after Ms Heimfeld adapted the script. If there is enough demand for tickets there could be two performances some time next term.
Miss Duguid said: ‘We plan to make it very theatrical with a gothic use of make-up, costume and staging. It is fantastic that students from across the school all want to take part. There will be a chance to be in the chorus for those who want non-speaking roles but for the main actors we are looking for strong characterisation, good use of accent, definite self-confidence and memorable performance skills.’
