Mrs Angie Flint has recently been appointed Chair of Brooke Weston’s Parents in Partnership. The organisation exists to strengthen bonds between parents and the school, to inform and support parents and guardians, especially those whose children are new to Brooke Weston, and to help with various events.
The highlight of Parents in Partnership’s year is running the annual and very popular BW Factor talent competition. They also provide cake and refreshments for hundreds of visitors at the new intake-testing day in December, as well as drinks at parents’ evenings. Another role of Parents in Partnership is to help students with mock interviews for business initiatives and generally playing a supportive and informative role to other parents.
Mrs Flint, who has been a member of PIPS for a year, said: ‘As a new Year 7 parent I was keen to understand more about the secondary education system and came to PIPS for advice as there were parents with older children who attended and they were very helpful. We are also extremely lucky to have Miss Duguid and Mr Browne on the team as teacher representatives as they have extraordinary energy and passion for teaching our children and enriching the school.
‘We have a blog, so if parents have questions about any aspect of school life then they should get in touch and we will provide the answers. We are looking to expand our membership; the time commitment is not too demanding as we tend to have a meeting once a term. We would ideally like at least one parent from each year group to come to our meetings so that we have a representative sample on the PIPS team. If anyone would like more information then please just get in touch.’
