Students investigate roles in catering industry

Students in Year 10 went on a fact-finding tour of Corby’s catering outlets to identify the different job roles involved. The students, who are studying GCSE hospitality and catering, looked at coffee shops, fast food restaurants and bistros to identify the processes and personnel employed in the hospitality industry.

Miss Blencowe and Mr Gilligan accompanied the students, who will be preparing and serving their own food in ‘The Event’ at the start of Term 3, a similar project to the one undertaken by the current Year 11s. Miss Blencoe said: ‘The brief trip gave the students a useful insight into the industry and the roles and responsibilities of waitresses, bar workers, glass washers, sous chefs, pastry chefs, assistant managers and managers.
