Brooke Weston’s recent dance showcase proved so popular that some of its performers have been reprising their roles in this week’s school assemblies. The showcase featured 22 dances, including those from the 7,8 and 9 Year groups, GCSE pieces, duets and solos.
Students performed to a near sell-out crowd in the fast-paced show that lasted for an hour and a half. In a departure from last year’s format many of the students, especially those performing solo or duet pieces, devised their choreography themselves. Styles varied from Fosse-inspired jazz, to street, Indian and Irish dancing.
Teacher Miss Duguid said: ‘It was a real celebration of style and movement. The students worked brilliantly and the whole thing was polished and slick. They are showing a real hunger and thirst for performing and the more they perform the greater those skills will become.’
