Year 7s conduct live experiment
Dr Yan from Bang Goes the Theory.
Tuesday 28th June 2011 by C. Freeman

Year 7 students took part in an experiment undertaken by schools all over the country. Dr Yan Wong, a presenter on BBC’s science programme ‘Bang Goes the Theory’ performed the first ever ‘Experiments Live’ for a 40 minute slot and tutor group 7K and Mrs Boyce logged on and did the experiment simultaneously.

Mrs Boyce said: ‘Most of our students watch Bang Goes the Theory anyway and you could log into the website and take part. Although it was aimed at students up to the age of 14, and some of the questions were a bit complicated, many of the demonstrations, such as looking at the movement of a sugar solution through water, were very visual. The programme really engaged the students and it was amazing to think we were among hundreds of schools taking part in an experiment in real time alongside the programme.’
