Peter Simpson, the Executive Principal of Brooke Weston Partnership has been honoured with a knighthood in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.
The award was made for Sir Peter’s services to education. He started his 40-year career as a science teacher in Leytonstone then taught in Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire and Wales, becoming a local authority school inspector in Walsall before taking up a post as Vice Principal at Brooke Weston in 1992. He was made Principal in 1999 and became Executive Principal of the Brooke Weston Partnership in 2007, with responsibility for Brooke Weston, Corby Business Academy and Kettering Science Academy.
Sir Peter said: ‘The honour was incredibly unexpected and it has caused me to reflect on my career. I believe I have been very lucky to have worked with so many good people throughout my 40 years in the profession and I am especially fortunate in the people I work with every day in the Brooke Weston Partnership. I am, of course, delighted with the award.’
The honour comes five years after Sir Peter was awarded the Order of the British Empire for services to education. He will be knighted by the Queen at an investiture at Buckingham Palace at a date to be confirmed.
