Brooke Weston has boosted its facilities with the addition of three brand new cricket nets which should prove popular both with students and the local community.
Head of PE, Mr Neil Shorrock said: ‘Having the new nets installed allows us to play cricket with a hard ball, whereas in the past students had to use a soft ball on the Astroturf. It also means we can coach their bowling and batting techniques in a purpose-built environment. There are three nets so basically they should accommodate a whole class at a time, with about six students working in each net taking turns to bat and bowl.’
The nets, fitted by specialist firm Dura-Sport, took three weeks to put up, and will also be available for hire at a rate of £26 per hour for the entire facility. For more details contact Mr Jazz Saini at CTC Trading on 01536 396366.
Principal Trish Stringer said: ‘This is a fabulous addition to Brooke Weston and I think it is going to be one of the premier facilities in the area. As well as being perfect for our students it is a facility that all the local cricket clubs can use as it is marked out for both junior and senior cricket. It is perfect.’
