Former Brooke Weston student Scott Graham has launched an events company specialising in club nights specifically aimed at under-18s. Scott, aged 16, set up Swagga Events when he realised there was a gap in the local market and he aims to deliver the best nights out in a safe, secure environment.
The first event takes place from 19:00 on Tuesday 31st May at Fusion nightclub in Carrington Street, Kettering. Tickets cost £5 in advance from the website or £8 on the door. The club, which can hold up to 500 people, will be a strictly alcohol and smoke-free zone manned by a professional security team to ensure a safe, relaxed atmosphere. For more information, including dress code and whether you need to bring identification to gain admittance, simply visit the Swagga Events website.
Scott, who came up with the funding and designed the website and promotional literature, said: ‘Everything has progressed really quickly and we are working really hard to make sure that the first night is memorable. We are trying to get the line-up as big and credible as we can but in future we may have themes such as foam nights or CO2 nights. Our aim is to have one event monthly and we aim to expand to other areas.'
There will be two rooms, the larger playing mainstream chart music and the 'urban' room, featuring Dubstep and D&B. Scott said: 'We have really focussed on getting a great line-up with a guest DJ coming from Lincolnshire for the launch, but he is worth it. It is all about providing a safe environment for under 18s to meet and connect and we will treat them like adults which is the same kind of ethos that was applied at Brooke Weston.
'We want to make it as enjoyable and safe as possible to make sure that parents' minds are at rest. We are hoping to attract young people from across Northamptonshire, bring them to one place where they are safe, where they are enjoying themselves to meet, greet and get to know new people.'
