Year 12 students have just a few days left to apply for a Nuffield Bursary, which pays them a wage for a four-week summer work placement in a science, technology or maths discipline.
Organisations including the University of Northampton, SATRA and Northampton General Hospital are running diverse projects including product design, 3D computer modelling and the chance to work in a pathology laboratory.
The Nuffield Bursary enables successful students to receive a total of £320 for four weeks’ work from Monday 25th July until 19th August with time off to collect their AS results.
To be considered for one of the projects, students have to be an A/B graded student in a relevant subject, and fill in the application form (which also has to be completed by the DT department). Send your application to the Nuffield coordinator, Julie Messenger, either electronically or by post, by a closing date of 20th May 2011. Potential candidates will then be shortlisted.
Previous students from Brooke Weston who have been awarded a Nuffield Bursary include Oliver Hawkes who undertook computing at the University of Northampton while last year Nic Shepherd got a paid job and funded university placement after taking part.
