The restaurant at Brooke Weston turned into chocolate heaven recently as students manfully munched their way through mouthfuls of chocolate.
Students had to tuck into over 20 chocolate bars - all in the name of research, and there was even some chocolate left so extra students and staff were called in to assist!
The Year 12 students each contributed one or two samples and then the fun really began. Varieties were compared and and a questionnaire was used to see which texture and taste came out on top. Dominic Vallier from Business Studies, oversaw the experiment which was part of a project where the students have to develop a new product.
Samples in the taste test varied from budget supermarket own brands costing just 29 pence to Galaxy Temptation which retailed at six times that amount, so there was lots of debate over the samples. Favourites, such as Cadbury and Galaxy were easily recognised by the testers, but Asda's own brand also scored highly on taste!
