A total of 32 language students visited Barcelona to meet exchange students who will spend time at Brooke Weston later this year. The students saw famous landmarks and got to know the Spanish students during the three-day trip.
Four tutors accompanied the students from Years 10, 12 and 13. For many it was the first time they had visited the city and it gave them a chance to brush up on their Spanish and experience the culture.
Abbi Floodgate from Year 10 said: ‘We saw some of the tourist sights. I couldn’t believe how many historic buildings there were, they were really old.’
Daniel Bartlett added: ‘Those of us who are hosting an exchange student met up with them and they all spoke really good English. By going on the trip I gained a bit more confidence when speaking Spanish.’
For Year 11 student Marsha Green, one of the highlights was Park Guell created by architect Antoni Gaudi who also designed the city’s stunning la Sagrada Familia cathedral that is still under construction.
Marsha said: ‘Park Guell was just insane! It was a good trip and I would like to go back again!’
The Spanish contingent will visit Brooke Weston for a four-night exchange on Monday 11th April.
