Well done to the Year 7 boys’ basketball team who put up such a good showing at the county finals. The boys were victorious in the Corby district competition and so went through to the finals stages at Daventry where they battled five other district championship teams from across the county.
We played and won two group matches against Sponne from Towcester and Wellingborough’s Huxlow School. In the semi-finals we beat Northampton School for Boys by 14-4, but unfortunately in the finals, despite a brave performance by the Brooke Weston boys, Wrenn School were the overall victors by a 10 - 4 margin.
Head of PE Neil Shorrock said: ‘It is a good strong start for the team and there is lots of potential, especially as some of the students have never played a competitive game before.’
The team, comprising Harry McNeill, Vlad Rusu, James Barton, Tareeq Manji, Joe Tyler, Tyler Jones, Ryan Hendry, Ruben Garcha and Arran Nisbet, received certificates and commemorative medals at a recent assembly.
