A group of manga enthusiasts dressed the part when they went to a recent expo devoted to comic books, gaming and manga art. The show, MCM Telford, attracted 6000 people plus TV and film characters such as stormtroopers from Star Wars and the actors who play Luke and Rani in the Sarah Jane Adventures.
Thirteen students from the manga reading group at Brooke Weston went along and most had designed and made their own costumes. Librarian Mrs Adams said: ‘It was a really friendly atmosphere. There were lots of stands and artists tables there and it was an opportunity to meet other people with the same interests.’
Student Callum Steedman said: 'I liked the trip to MCM Expo because it was different. There were lots of people dressed up as their favourite characters from anime or games and some of the costumes were awesome!'
Laura Keeble added: 'It's smaller than the London one, so it's a lot more intimate and everyone is so friendly. Lots of people admired our costumes and we had lots of pictures taken of us!'
