Parents, staff and governors will be able to sample food prepared by our hospitality and catering students at a reception this evening. The Year 10 students are making mouth-watering morsels for up to 40 guests attending tonight’s GCSE performance concert.
They have been preparing for the event all this term, researching recipes, deciding on the menu, sourcing ingredients and then having a practice run where they taste-tested the results before making final tweaks ready for the big day.
A total of 14 students are on the course and are busy shopping for their ingredients for savoury dishes like samosas, spicy chicken balls and spring rolls. Guests with a sweet tooth will be able to tuck into lemon meringue pies, scones and fruit skewers. Two students will man the bar where guests will have a choice of non-alcoholic cocktails.
Food technology teacher Miss Letchet said: ‘Reece is our head chef on the day, he is in charge of the entire kitchen. The students have got napkin folding and table preparations, so we have the whole day to prepare. All the food is made completely from scratch and we have spent a lot of time and effort making sure everything is as good as possible. We will definitely do this again. It has been nice to have an event to actually cater for and we hope the guests enjoy the results.’
