Sixth Form IT students are developing their own characters to be used in a short animation as part of their coursework. The have to come up with a story, draw it out and then use software such as Go Animate, an online program, to produce their own short story.
Head of IT Mr Dave Clarke said: ‘The group studying double IT have to research the animation industry, develop some characters for an animation lasting 45 seconds which has basically a story or moral of some sort. Most of them are doing stories for children like "don’t drink alcohol" so it is about making healthy lifestyle choices and safety messages. The students are sketching out their characters now and, although it is a short animation the drawing and planning process is quite time-consuming.’
