Sixth Form students got to see behind the scenes at Leicester Tigers’ ground. The Welford Road stadium is undergoing a multi-million pound upgrade and those studying for the BTEC sports qualification visited to see how modern sports venues cope with stewarding masses of fans.
It is the second year that Brooke Weston students have toured the prestigious stadium where rugby legend, Martin Johnson, played between 1989 and 2005 before being appointed England manager in 2008.
Teacher Mr Clasper said: 'This was an invaluable chance to see what goes on at one of England’s top rugby clubs. The 23 students, who are studying Health and Safety as part of their course, were able to see how the Tigers manage key aspects such as crowd control, CCTV and fire regulations; all vital to the safe running of their day to day operation.’
