Three Brooke Weston students are off to the NEC to audition for the next series of Britain’s Got Talent.
Josh Pickering and Lauren Button from Year 11, and Year 8 student, Sam Barrett, applied to go on the show earlier this year. Lauren, who is singing Listen by Beyonce, and Sam, who will do a rendition of Lean on Me, are both auditioning tomorrow (Friday 10 December) while Josh will perform Pink’s song, Dear Mr President next Monday.
They have to prepare two songs, a main one and a back up, to sing to production staff and they will find out in the new year if they have got through to the later stages to be judged by a panel including Amanda Holden.
All three have been members of the Brooke Weston school choir and Josh has had singing tuition for the last three years as well. The trio are now all busy putting the finishing touches to their audition songs.
Lauren said: ‘I have liked singing since I was little and although I am not nervous at the moment I probably will be when I get there; it is just a chance to show what I can do.’
Sam said: 'I have been singing for about two or three years and, because I was told that I was a reasonable singer, I decided to practice a little bit more and then the opportunity came to try for BGT.'
Josh said: 'I am really nervous about the audition but I know when I get there it will all go away and I hope that my singing will wow the judges.'
