Lydia Cole has won awards at a recent Kettering Town Harriers presentation. She won both the female high jump and the most points in the young athletes league in the Under-13 category and was presented with a trophy and two plaques.
Lydia, who is in Year 8, trains with the Harriers for three evenings a week, and also spends time at weekends there and in competitions around the region. She joined the athletics club three years ago after first enjoying athletics at her primary school. Her best track event is the 200m and she has a personal best time of just over 29 seconds while her favourite discipline is high jump with her attaining a height of 1.30 metres so far.
Lydia was presented with the trophy and plaques by Cllr Matt Lynch at the award ceremony in the Cornmarket Hall, Kettering. She said: ‘This is the best trophy I have won so far. Training at the Harriers is great because I like keeping fit and seeing my friends, it is really fun. We also have trips out to the seaside to do training on the beach and we travel around a lot for competitions.’
