Auditions are being held for students who want to join either of Brooke Weston's two dance groups. Students will either be allocated to the Dance Company, which normally comprises older students, or the Dance Group, and both will devise pieces to be performed later this year.
Miss Duguid said: 'We audition every year so there's a fresh intake and it is open to students who missed the opportunity previously. Students come along and take part in a class with myself and Miss Bailey. We will be looking to see if they work collaboratively, pick up the movements, what their technique is like and they will be asked to go into small groups, reinterpret the dance and perform it back to us. We need approximately 16 to 20 students to make up the Dance Company which will meet after school from 16:15 to 17:30 Wednesday each week.'
Once dancers have been selected for the Dance Company they will go straight into rehearsals for a launch project with a dancer from Rambert Dance to be performed at the new Corby Cube. Other forthcoming dates include the Winter Showcase and a dance performance with groups from the other Brooke Weston Partnership schools.
The dance auditions will be held on Wednesday 29th September at 16:15 and they are open to boys and girls from every year group. The boy's dance crew, which is just devoted to breakdancing, also meets on Thursdays at 16:05 and if more people are interested in joining they should speak to Miss Bailey.
Miss Duguid said: 'We hope to see lots of students at the auditions. They just need to bring their dance kit, a good attitude and plenty of enthusiasm!'
