A total of 22 students undertaking their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme had a practice walk and camp recently. They walked for two days and camped overnight in preparation for a further assessed expedition locally later this year.
The students, who were accompanied by Mr Barrett, Miss Nicholson, Mrs Hilling and Mr Heppell, all walked from Gretton to East Carlton Park on the first day before pitching their tents and preparing their own food.
The following day they completed their 28-kilometre route to Market Harborough. The exercise was a chance for them to practice their map navigation skills and be self-sufficient.
