World Cup fever is hitting the library this term with footballs and vouchers as prizes in five different competitions. As well as a big quiz on the VLE, there will be word searches, a crossword competition and a book review competition.
The first competition is already underway. Simply tell Mrs Adams which team is missing from the World Cup display in the library. Anyone (student or staff member) can take part, but you'll have to be quick off the mark to stand a chance of winning.
Students will be able to write their own reviews, match reports and all things football-related over the coming weeks and the library will update their online blog daily with player quotes and book reviews to coincide with the kick-off on 11 June.
There is also a daily link to 'Foul Play' a football thriller written by Tom Palmer which encapsulates all the excitement of the World Cup. Teenage football detective Danny is on his way to South Africa, but there looks to be trouble in store. The first few chapters of the 26-part adventure have already been published. You can read them by linking to the library blog to catch up with this intriguing story.
Mrs Adams said: 'Obviously the World Cup is the big event of the summer and so, to celebrate, we are launching a range of competitions with official World Cup footballs and Sports Direct vouchers as prizes. The online daily story will be a great way of following the World Cup this summer and there's lots of football-related books and magazines in the library so everyone can feel involved.'
