Brooke Weston has one of the top school libraries in the county, according to a new award from the Schools Library Association.
Brooke Weston library was praised for its 'widely used extensive range of IT facilities, conducive working atmosphere and airy, attractive accommodation.' In addition, Librarian, Miss Charlie Smith was singled out for praise for the way she 'enthusiastically organises students, runs book clubs, and expands readers' horizons with professional verve.'
An expert panel from the Northamptonshire Learning in Education service looked at the resources and working practices of both primary and secondary school libraries over a period of months before naming Brooke Weston as joint runner up with Guilsborough School, who were both pipped at the post by Sponne School.
Miss Smith said: 'There's lots of criteria to meet. There is an initial visit and then the judges draw up a shortlist to choose those school libraries to examine in detail. Development is really high on the agenda. I feel we did really well to get into the top three in Northamptonshire, for us to have reached this point is really encouraging. We got a certificate and lots of really good comments from the judges.'
