Students going on next year's trip to Botswana and Namibia learned how to pitch their tents during an after-school session with Mr Kevin Caines, the school adviser from World Challenge.
Teacher Mr Nicholls said: 'The whole point was to plan the itinerary and get the students thinking about the practical side of living on expedition for four weeks. They will be carrying their tents in packs on their backs. They may spend time with the Kalahari bushmen and may do a project in a school over there and visit Victoria Falls.'
Students are now raising the £4,000 funds they need for the month-long trip by a variety of means, including doing odd jobs, selling items and bag-packing at Morrisons.
