Year 9 student Kyle Murie has had a successful first season at table-tennis. Since starting the sport in September he has taken part in three tournaments and progressed from the beginners to improver stage at his weekly club.
Kyle first took up the sport as a change from football and, since receiving regular coaching at Corby table tennis club, his technique and hand-eye co-ordination have really improved.
He has successfully taken part in three tournaments so far, getting through the early singles rounds and winning one with his doubles partner. When the season starts again in September he will play in one of the league teams, facing opponents from other local clubs.
Kyle said: 'The club runs on Wednesday nights and they teach techniques to improve your game and also get you to try and work out the weaknesses of your opponents. I've found it quite easy to improve my game. I play at home against my dad; he wants to start going to the club as well because I keep beating him!'
