The Performing Arts Department is holding auditions for students who want to be involved in next term's production of Romeo and Juliet. As well as incorporating key elements of Shakespeare's text it will fuse abstract and modern theatrical techniques with dance and music to create a multi-layered experience.
The first round of auditions will take place in the drama studio at 10 o' clock on Monday 10 May; (the first day of the holidays). For those unable to attend there will be further audition slots on Monday 24 May. Students will need to download and prepare an audition piece; these can be found on the VLE in the 'Shared Documents' folder of the Performing Arts section.
Miss Duguid said: 'There are certain iconic elements of the original text that I really want to keep in such as the prologue and the balcony scene, but basically the idea is that we are going to make a fusion piece. It's going to be a more devised and interlaced performance, maybe with a bit of dance, a bit of music, abstract, masks, lots of different things.'
