Year 8 students played a game looking at the laws of probability during a recent maths lesson. They divided into groups to take turns rolling two dice. Their combined number was added and denoted the 'horse' that won. When repeated for a series of 'races' the results showed a consistent curve pattern, demonstrating the laws of averages and probability.
Teacher Miss Lynch said: 'It was inspired by the Grand National and they found that one horse will statistically run more than the others and there is a definite pattern. It's a fun activity that demonstrates probability in a practical way.'
