Callum Galluzzo had a 14th birthday to remember as he led Scunthorpe United out for their FA Cup game with Manchester City. Callum was a mascot for the fixture at Scunthorpe's Glanford Park stadium where he got to meet the players and managers before the game and led Scunthorpe onto the pitch for the 4pm kick-off.
The surprise was arranged by Callum's mum and grandmother and he only learned about it on the morning of the match, so there wasn't much time to get nervous. He donned the claret and blue Scunthorpe strip but, despite the home team's best efforts, they conceded defeat with a 4-2 scoreline.
Callum, who is in Year 9 said: 'My nan lives in Scunthorpe and so I've been following the club for a while now. The mascots went into the players' changing rooms, shook hands with them and got their autographs. We went onto the pitch for a kick-about with the other mascots then went back down the tunnel, brought the players out and posed for a picture with the teams and referee on the halfway line. I was really surprised that I got to do it and the best part was meeting the players, particularly as one of my friends is a Manchester City fan.'
