Students will now be able to listen to and download music from the Performing Arts section of the website. The new service has got Bright Star on it which was a joint collaboration between Brooke Weston and St Brendan's school choir and more tracks will follow. It is intended to be a library of original material written, performed and recorded by our students.
People can listen to the tracks in full before purchasing but need a Paypal account to download them. All profits from Bright Star will be donated to Teenage Cancer Trust and those from other tracks will be ploughed back into the music department with individual artists/performers being awarded for their efforts by a voucher scheme.
If students want to record their own tracks to go on to the site then, for copyright reasons, it must be their own original material. They can use the recording studio at no charge but they need to book the facilities after school on Friday night when Mr Duguid will be available to help them record, mix and master the track.
Mr Duguid said: 'It means that students will be able to use the fantastic studio facilities we have here and then get recognition for their work by being able to disseminate it to a large audience in the school community. I'm hoping that the scheme really proves popular and we should soon build up a good archive of material.'
