Performing Arts is gearing up for a busy few weeks in the run-up to Christmas with both the Winter Showcase and joint carol service with Corby Business Academy to look forward to.
The Winter Showcase will feature a variety of acts including three dance performances, one of which will be the debut of the newly-formed boys' dance group. Tickets are available now at a cost of £3 and the event takes place on Thursday 3 December at 19:30.
The Christmas Concert will be staged at St Brendan's Church next Wednesday when the choirs and orchestras from both schools will combine in their first-ever public collaboration. There have been intense rehearsals with Mr Duguid coaching the choir both here and at CBA, while their Musical Director, Mr Clive Wears, has been rehearsing with our musicians. Tickets for the event are free but there will be a maximum allocation of two per student on a first-come, first-served basis.
Mr Duguid said: 'This has undoubtedly been a busy term in terms of productions and rehearsals and the Performing Arts department is going from strength to strength. We have more students than ever studying music with our peripatetic teachers and this is the first year that we are running a BTEC Performing Arts course. With visiting professionals, after-school clubs, choirs and all the performances going on there's always something to prepare for and we are hoping to innovate more projects in the future and are looking at ways of recording and distributing our students' work because we have a lot of talented performers here.'
