Year 7 student, Brandon Smith is a keen karate student. Since starting the sport three years ago he is now on his 11th belt and has just two more gradings before he earns his coveted black belt.
He trains at St Edwards School in Kettering for an hour and a half each week and puts in an hour of practice each night learning the different Shotokan kata and kumites.
He said: 'My sister's boyfriend used to help out at the club and I went to watch them and thought I'd give it a shot, it's quite fun. My dad's a belt above me and he helps with my training so I'm putting a lot of hard work into it.'
