Mr Bidwell raised more than £200 for a cancer charity by taking part in a 10k run. Despite doing almost no training, he was pleasantly surprised to complete the run in the time of one hour, 16 minutes and 21 seconds.
He was inspired to do the event after fellow staff and students ran in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust. The event in Campbell Park, Milton Keynes was in aid of Cancer Research UK.
Even though he could hardly walk the next day Mr Bidwell may have caught the running bug as he plans to do the same event next year and is tempted to try the Bupa London 10,000 metres next year.
'My target time was two hours and I honestly didn't think I was going to do it in that. When I came up the hill at the end and saw the clock saying 1:15 I just pelted down the last hundred metres and I was well chuffed with my time. Thanks to everyone who sponsored me.'
