The jazz band performed at the recent Bastille Day held at Wicksteed Park. Hundreds of schoolchildren attended the annual event, which was a celebration of all things French, with activities and workshops run by secondary school children for the primary age group. The jazz band comprises Lee Griffiths, Katie Cridge, Elliot Beeby, George Robinson, Matt Murphy and Katie Parker, accompanied by Mr Duguid on bass guitar.
The band played French classics, such as La Vie en Rose, C'Est Si Bon and version of Frere Jacques complete with audience participation from the youngsters in attendance. The music department have been involved in each of Wicksteed's Bastille Day celebrations since they started three years ago, and look set to take part in next year's one as well.
Mr Duguid said: 'It gives the students performing experience at a venue outside Brooke Weston. We were in the hexagonal café and it was fun.'
