Congratulations go to two well loved members of the Brooke Weston staff as they celebrate their 82nd birthdays and 60th wedding anniversaries this year.
Sadie Stanners and Molly Tyers both spend 30 hours a week cleaning at the College and they have become firm favourites with staff and students alike.
Sadie celebrated both her birthday and 60th wedding anniversary on the same day in April, while Molly has to wait until June for her birthday and July for her diamond anniversary celebrations.
Sadie spoke for both of them when she said: 'We love the students; a lot of the younger ones come up and give us a hug. They show us so much love.'
Sadie is married to Walter and they were joined by their son Bryan and grandchildren Craig and Shelley for their special celebrations, with Bryan even flying in from his home in Chicago for the occasion. Sadie and Walter married at St Andrew's Church in Occupation Road after the couple met during a blackout in Corby Village.
Molly fell for her husband Ken, quite literally as she tripped over his feet twice at a dance! They met up again on a blind date the following night and married at St Patrick's Church in Fife, Scotland in a double wedding with Molly's sister, Rose and her fiance.
Molly and Ken have three daughters, six granddaughters, five great granddaughters and … finally, a great grandson!
Sadie and Molly, who have worked at Brooke Weston for ten and fifteen years respectively agree on the recipe for a long and happy marriage – working together as a couple plus 'a bit of give and take.'
