Brooke Weston started the festive season in traditional style with a well-attended concert in the Weston theatre. Vocalists James Barry, Dylan Makuchete, Lyn Joynson and Chloe Dickinson performed solos during some of the choral renditions.
As well as traditional carols, the staff and student choir also sang more modern pieces like Hallelujah and Little Drummer Boy/Peace on Earth while the newly-formed boys' choir performed a haunting version of Silent Night. Contributions by the flute and saxophone groups were interspersed with Bible readings while Hannah Ellwood and Jonathan Lindsay performed intricate solo pieces on guitar and cello respectively.
The audience joined in with the carols and the evening culminated in a brief message from Principal Trish Stringer and a collection in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust, a cause which is being supported by Brooke Weston, and particularly the Sixth Formers, who have run several events in aid of the charity.
The concert, which was organised by Mr Duguid and Mr Sammy, proved popular with the students, staff and their extended families. Thanks to all those (especially Parents in Partnership who provided mulled wine and mince pies), who gave their time and efforts to make it such a memorable evening.
