Student Elin Carmichael was given the full VIP treatment at the University of Northampton graduate fashion show. Elin, who won a dress design competition, was treated to a buffet lunch with civic dignitaries before striding up the catwalk for a trophy presentation.
Students from Brooke Weston and her family were there to support Elin as well as view the catwalk show by the University's fashion degree students. Elin said: 'It was brilliant. I was really scared that I was going to stumble on the catwalk, or actually drop my prize - I was given so much!'
As well as the engraved trophy Elin was also presented with a certificate, a teddy bear and a sketch pad so she can design more outfits. Her winning dress was a fuschia outfit designed hypothetically for pop star, Lily Allen and it won first prize in her age category of the competition, which is run annually by the University. Her award was presented by Gemma Hensman from Hensmans salons who sponsored the show and Dr David Jones, Associate Dean of the School of the Arts.
Elin said: 'The show itself was brilliant, I really loved it. Some of the clothes were so gorgeous and innovative, the students must enjoy themselves so much, making about five or six outfits through the year for their course. I really liked the mad hair on the models as well, half had massive backcombed wispy blonde explosions on their heads. It was an amazing day out.'
