A group of our students took part in debates and quizzes about their favourite books in this year’s Carnegie shadowing event at Lodge Park Academy. Members of our book group have read the shortlisted Carnegie/Greenaway titles over the past few months in preparation.
Miss Kerr attended the event. She said: ‘Students from Brooke worked with those from Lodge Park and discussed the meanings and messages of the books. They then completed a questionnaire on the Carnegie book, which Olivia Miller won, and devised a speech explaining which book they believed deserved to win the Carnegie competition. (Olivia and Amelia Sulch won this too!). Students thoroughly enjoyed their time at Lodge Park and look forward to participating next year!’
The librarian at Lodge Park, Wendy McCabe, said: ‘The students were a credit to Brooke Weston. The official results have been released. 'One' by Sarah Crossan, which got 23 of our votes won the Carnegie Award with 'The Sleeper and the Spindle' by Chris Riddle, winning the Greenaway Award.’
