Our students are being invited to write a short story with the winner being chosen by students at Oakley Vale primary school. Teacher Ms Fitzjohn launched the competition in assembly and she will be running a workshop after school today (Monday) to give inspiration on components including ideas, story structure and language.
She said: ‘I am hoping that students from across all the year groups will get involved and they can even illustrate their own stories. I gave them examples of successful literature, including the classic Peter Rabbit and the more contemporary Owl Babies, aimed at the target audience aged from 4 to 6 years.
‘All entries need to be handed in by Friday of week one next term. This is a great opportunity as it gives our younger year groups practice in creative writing techniques and will be invaluable for older students who will be able to talk about it in job and university interviews. The Oakley Vale students will give feedback on all of the stories and there will be a prize for the winning entry.’
