A group of our students went on a Harry Potter-inspired trip completing challenges, quizzes and enjoying themed refreshments including cupcakes and butterbeer. The students dressed as characters from the books and, with the help of a sorting hat, they were teamed with fellow students from Corby Business Academy and Corby Technical School.
Each team had to appoint its own prefect to co-ordinate activities and a house elf to fetch and carry things for the team. There were three activities; a quiz, a potion mixing session and a search for Horcruxes. The two-hour event took place in the library at Corby Business Academy. Librarian Mrs Adams said: ‘The Brooke Weston students were all very well behaved and mixed well with those from the other academies.'
Harvey Baker from Year 7 said: ‘My favourite bit was when I won the costume contest. I was dressed as Professor Quirrell and as a prize I got a Honeydukes chocolate bar.'
Evie Barker, from the winning Hufflepuff team, said: ‘We made potions and ours was a mixture of tomato ketchup, Angel Delight and chocolate chips – we gave it to someone in our team to try! Another team did mint, jelly and gherkins. We had a competition to find photos of all seven Horcruxes which were hidden around the library and that was really hard. My favourite bit was finding out that our team had won. We won by a point and got jellybeans as a prize.I loved the Harry Potter books and have read them all.’
