Five students made their own healthy gingerbread houses during a two-week master-class. They had taken part in a competition to make a healthy meal at home. After submitting photos and their methods they were invited to join the gingerbread making sessions.
They made, rolled out and cut the gingerbread to a template before decorating the houses the following week. Food technology teacher Mrs Wykes said: ‘The emphasis was on healthy eating so rather than using chocolates or sweets they used banana chips, nuts and sultanas as decorations. The students did a great job. They learned baking, piping and rolling skills and the results were fantastic.’
Well done to Hannah McAuley, Ben Tompkins, Grace Dighton, Dylan Lewis and Sebastian Hodgkinson who all took part.
