Our Year 9 students got into the festive spirit by performing the classic play A Christmas Carol to students at Oakley Vale primary school. They adapted and shortened the script down to a 20-minute production that was seen by 420 students.
Drama teacher Miss Kerr said: ‘We have been practising the play all term and students auditioned for parts. As it involved the students playing multiple roles the costumes were simple but effective with props to identify different characters. It was the first time they performed in front of an audience and they did brilliantly; I am so proud of them! It is a huge confidence booster and hopefully this will encourage students to join drama club or take it up for GCSE.’
Students of all ages and abilities can join the drama club, which runs after school on Thursdays. Miss Kerr will use plays including Sparkleshark and The Container, which explores issues of human trafficking, with older year groups over the coming terms.
