Hundreds of students took part in this year's first Christmas Showcase, starting the seasonal festivities at Brooke Weston in style. The concerts (scheduled for yesterday and this evening) feature 18 acts including instrumentals, choral and classical arrangements and dances. Performers include the Year 7 and 8 curriculum choirs, as well as Year 7 dancers and members of the Brooke Weston Dance Company and GCSE curriculum dance groups. The Brooke Weston orchestra, choir, string and brass groups also featured.
Nkara Stephenson and Caoimhe Magee sang solos while Thomas Cox played Silent Night on the tenor horn, after only taking up the instrument in September! The penultimate act was a solo piano recital by Emily Brabbs before the finale involving all the performers.
Head of Music, Mr Duguid said: ‘It’s really good to have hundreds of students involved, performing together across all the different age ranges, from Year 7s all the way through to Sixth Formers. There were more dance acts than we have had before and all the soloists did really well and the curriculum choirs were great. It was really successful and we will do it all again tonight!’
Tickets are still available on the door for tonight's show priced at £3 each. Refreshments will be available from 18:45 in the restaurant with proceeds going towards the students' World Challenge funds. The concert starts at 19:30.
