Our Year 9 students saw a new 40-minute drama about the early stages in a relationship as part of a strategy by the Northants Police. It was the first time that the drama was shown in public and it will now tour around 19 other schools in the county to highlight relevant issues.
After the show there was a group discussion with students. Mr Nick Walker, the director of The Core, said: ‘It is a 40 minute drama which explores the early stage of relationship and how it may be controlling. It is about trying to give the young people tools to recognise what is a healthy relationship and what isn’t. It has been commissioned by the Northamptonshire Police Crime Commissioner. They initiated the project and they are here to do follow-up workshops with Service Six about any of the issues affected and how it might affect people who watch the drama. The project launched in October and there was a period of consultation with young people. The rehearsals took a fortnight and this is the play’s first outing. We are taking it to about 20 other schools across the county but it was lovely to start here at Brooke Weston.’
