Students learned more about university courses in the area when a team from the University of Northampton visited. The Year 12s had more information about courses finance and all aspects of university life during a presentation by the Schools and College’s engagement team.
Team member Verity Law said: ‘We have done a bit of an introduction to higher education. We were talking about courses and qualifications and then looked at student finance to tell them about what they may be eligible to apply for. We have also looked at budgeting.
‘The University of Northampton is moving to a new Waterside campus in 2018 so if these students come in two years they will actually start at Waterside campus. Within six months of study 96% of our students are in further education or employment which is a figure to be proud of. We have got various specialisms. Fashion is one of our key areas as are things like environmental science. We are also well known for health courses, teaching, art and design and computing. Lots of forward-thinking courses that are constantly changing. That employability statistic is built into everything that we do, so all of our students get volunteering and placement opportunities. It is all about the student experience and making sure that they leave with more than a good degree.’
