Here is the fourth part of our series on our GCSE high flyers:

Kelan Atkinson (3A*, 5A and a Distinction) said: ‘I am coming back for A Levels as I want to do medicine at university. Leicester looks really good. I will need chemistry, biology and then I might do geography and maths or physics. I worked really hard on revision and did lots of past papers. I think that is the key. I think I have done all the past papers for each subject for the past five years. I worked pretty much every night.’

Sam Tran (3A*, 4A, 3B, 1C) said: ‘I think I could have worked a bit more, but maybe I should have worked more in Year 10. I am very proud of my further maths. I am coming back to study that at A Level along with maths, French, chemistry and German. I hope I will cope with the workload. Eventually I want to go to university and become an investment banker. I am going for a meal tonight with my parents because they came over especially for my results. I am from northern German and I just started here in Year 10.’

Joshua Roberts (2A*, 7A, 1B and a Distinction) said: ‘I am hopefully going to study medicine, I am not sure where yet, possibly Durham or maybe Oxford or Cambridge if I can get into them. I thought I was going to fail English but I got an A in that so I was surprised and really happy with these results. I want to do biology, chemistry, maths and history or Spanish at A Level, but I am just going to go for it. The key to it is revision and finding the best revision method that suits you; it might be writing down facts or using flash cards to remember stuff or maybe reading just before an exam to back up my knowledge.’

Sang Ta (2A* 7A, 2B, 1C and a Pass) said: ‘I am going to take A Levels in chemistry, physics, maths and further maths. I am not totally sure what I want to do afterwards but I think it will be something related to science. I had to work pretty hard. I revised on a strict schedule until I got what I needed.’
