Best ever A Level examination results

Brooke Weston Academy is celebrating its best-ever A Level examination results with an unprecedented six students having secured a place at Oxbridge. It is also the sixth consecutive year that students have performed at an outstanding level, with an average score per student of 381 UCAS points, indicating that, on average, students achieved three A grades each.

Our top-performing student achieved four A* and one A grade and 13 further students achieved in excess of 40 A*/A grades between them. More than 70 per cent of the cohort will continue their studies at university with the remainder opting for professional or vocational apprenticeships.

Congratulations to our Oxbridge students: Victor Ho (4A* 1B), Kiran Joshi (2A* 3A) and Gautham Kumar (3A*) will all be studying medicine at the University of Cambridge. George Robinson (4A* 1A) and Callum Ward (4A*) have also secured places at Cambridge reading mathematics and natural sciences respectively while Kapil Tyagi (1A*2A) is going to Oxford to study English Language and Literature.

A significant number of other students have places at highly prestigious universities. Those who are studying medicine include Poppy Aves (3A 1B) who will attend the University of Leicester and Jordan Smith (3A) who will be studying at the University of Nottingham. Julia Komor (2A*1A) and Tho-Quang Nguyen (3A* 1A) will both be studying medicine in London at Imperial College and Queen Mary respectively.

Others who are celebrating include Simran Garcha (3A) who will be studying optometry or dentistry at Aston and Simran Kang (2A* 1A) who will be attending the University of Leicester to study Law. Hayden Tetley (2A*1A,1B) will be reading mathematics at the University of Nottingham while Harriet Woodward (3A) and will be studying German and Russian at the University of Leeds.

Equally impressive is the number of students who have secured highly competitive apprenticeships with multi-national companies. Felipe Guzman will be working for the National Grid while Kristian Moseley is pursuing an automotive career at Mazda.

Principal Trish Stringer said: ‘These A Level results have exceeded my expectations. To have six students secure places at Oxbridge is phenomenal and an achievement that has never happened before in our 24-year history. Equally impressive is the range of options that our students are pursuing, not only in terms of higher education, but also for those who have chosen apprenticeship and vocational routes and who have secured top grades to build solid careers upon.

‘The headline figure, indicating that each student has achieved an average of three A grades, not only shows the dedication and commitment that this cohort of students has put in to their Sixth Form studies, but demonstrates the exceptional level of teaching and learning evident at Brooke Weston on a daily basis. For that I thank not only the students, but the entire staff body for their professionalism and support so that students across the board can, and do, achieve at this exceptional level. Best wishes to all our students who have truly made 2015 a landmark year for our A Level results.’
