Congratulations to all of our students who took part in the ‘Music for Stage and Screen’ concert at the Cube, the first of its kind that the Trust has staged in a professional venue.
More than 150 students from our five Trust secondary academies took part and they showed their dedication by practising for the event for more than three months, including Saturday mornings!
There were performances from the Trust combined concert band, string ensemble and choir interspersed with featured soloists from each school plus a professional guest musician. The two-hour show was performed for a sell out audience of over 400.
Brooke Weston’s Head of Performing Arts, Mr Duguid said: ‘The concert was an astonishingly phenomenal success. It was so good to have all the different children from five different secondary schools come together. We had the professional soloist, Ben Godfrey as a guest and it was really nice to have him come and play in front of, and with, the students. It was a really great experience from that perspective. We were able to showcase the very finest soloists that the different schools had to offer. George Robinson represented Brooke Weston and played ‘I Got Rhythm’ by George Gershwin which is a tremendously difficult piece that he is playing next week for his diploma. Well done to all the students that took part for their dedication and enthusiasm.’
